Obituary
Hite, Charles Alan (Alan), 90, of Sarasota, passed away unexpectedly on December 1, 2023. Alan was born on August 24, 1933, in Prince Georges County, Maryland to Charles & Sylvia Hite. Alan was a successful, self-made truck & body shop owner in Northern Virginia, having painted multiple Presidential limousines and motorcade vehicles throughout his 44 year career.
In 1981 Alan married the love of his life Sharon (Beveridge) of Smiths Falls, Ontario. Together Alan and Sharon lived a storied life. They split their time between their Virginia & Florida homes and Pine Cone Island in the Thousand Islands region. There, Alan served as the Club President and was involved in the Youth Golf Program at Grenadier Island County Club. Alan also served on the Board of Directors and as Golf Chairman at the County Club of Fairfax. After retiring to Florida, Alan and Sharon settled in Sarasota and became respected and beloved members at Sara Bay County Club. Alan occupied his time, both before and after retirement, enjoying countless rounds of golf. He also dedicated countess hours volunteering at Sara Bay Country Club in numerous capacities, including Entertainment Chairman and starting the “1099 Men’s Golf Group”. Through his activities at the Sara Bay, Alan was considered an “ambassador” for the Club and its membership. Alan is also one of only five recipients of the Distinguished Service Award in the Club’s almost 100 year history.
Alan is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon; her son, Cory and his wife, Jeanne of Atlanta and Cory’s children, Aubrey and Noah; his daughter Bonnie and her children Trey and Jennifer; and his daughter Vicki and son Charlie. He also leaves behind more friends than can be counted or mentioned. Pursuant to his wishes, no services will be held.
