Obituary

Charles (Chuck) Duane Jenkins passed away 5/21/2022 in Fort Myers, Florida.  He was born 9/21/1932 to Charles and Bertha (Green) Jenkins in Enid, Oklahoma and was the oldest of 4 brothers, Dick, Randy, and Larry Jenkins.

Chuck graduated from Enid High School and went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University, where he joined ROTC.  In 1954, as an Army 1st Lieutenant, he was assigned to Straubing, Germany with the Ordinance Corps and was responsible for mechanical support of vehicles used to patrol the East German border. After returning to the States, he served in the Army Reserves and was promoted to Captain. Chuck also had a long and successful career working for AT&T in New York and Chicago and after 31 years, retired as Vice President of Operations.

Chuck enjoyed playing golf and tennis and traveling.  He and his wife enjoyed visiting and learning the history of many different countries such as Egypt, China & Russia.  Chuck enjoyed entertaining family and friends, and during his 89 years, he had a full and happy life.  He had a unique ability to bring a little humor into almost any situation and he will be greatly missed.

Chuck is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Janell, son Charlie, granddaughters Jocelyn and Stephanie, great-grandson Benjamin, and brother Dick. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Gifts may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Florida https://kidneyfl.org with donation acknowledgements to Janell Keider Janell.keider@cox.net

Al and I got to know Chuck during the time he and Pat spent in Niagara Falls. He was a very special friend whose company we got to enjoy more and more. We found him to be so kind and intelligent with so much insight. We especially loved his sense of humor and guaranteed, he could have us laughing at every visit. We have missed him and did intend to visit him in Fort Myers but unfortunately it never happened. He last emailed us in March and he was very worried about his health at that time.
Our sincere condolences to Chuck’s family. We are very sad to read of his passing and have thought of him often. Al and Bette Kleemola

My Dad was hard working, intelligent, funny and kind - he wanted his family and friends to be happy and was always willing to help in any way he could. I will miss him but I am thankful that I was able to be with him during his final weeks - Dad thoroughly enjoyed life and I believe I will see him again in Heaven.
