Obituary

Christine “Chris” Tyler Young was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She passed away in the comfort of her own home with her beloved husband and dog by her side on April 26, 2024 at the age of 79. She was predeceased in death by her parents Chet and Ethel Tyler, and her sister Ann Gillette. She is survived by her husband, Bob Young, sister Cynthia Hill, daughter Leslie Gunderson (Tom), her two granddaughters Abbey Dean and Carly Gunderson, and her great granddaughter Addison Dean.

Chris was born on January 14, 1945 in Washington D.C. As the daughter of an army colonel, she spent much of her childhood all over the globe from Hawaii to Turkey. She spent the majority of her career working in legal offices up until her retirement from Henderson Franklin. She was the proud mother of one daughter, Leslie Ann, and a devoted “Gee” to her granddaughters.

Chrissie loved all things beach from sitting in the sand reading novels to collecting sea glass. She and Bob were avid travelers, and you could often find them on an exotic cruise or a European adventure. She was an excellent cook and entertainer, and her “Chunky salad” recipe will be passed on for generations. Above all, Gee’s favorite way to spend time was with her husband, daughter, granddaughters and dogs.

The family is very appreciative of the support from friends over the years, and especially grateful to Hope Hospice for the empathy and care they showed Chris and Bob in her final days. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center on her behalf. A celebration of life will be held in the future.
