Obituary

Christopher Donald White, 65, went to be with the Lord on January 23, 2017.  He was born in Woking, England on April 22, 1951 to Anthony and Diana White. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather he went off to boarding school and graduated from Chilton Cantelo as a member of the local Search and Rescue unit.  He became interested in the travel industry in Bristol and saw a lot of Europe and Asia as a travel representative before coming to the States in 1979.  In America he met his first wife and the mother of his two daughters, Stephanie and Samantha.  As part of his efforts in bringing British tourists to America he formed the British American Chamber of Commerce in Orlando.  He was Director of Marketing for the Black Hills Passion Play in Lake Wales, FL for a number of years before forming his own marketing company with his current wife, Linda.  As part of their business he was heavily involved in the marketing efforts of the Fort Myers and Sanibel Visitor’s Bureau.  He enjoyed traveling, hiking in the mountains and spending time with family and friends, and sharing stories about his British heritage with everyone.  He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; daughters Stephanie Baker, Samantha White and Kay Vaughn, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Angela and Sara.  Private family services will be held at a later date.  He was loved by many and will be missed by them.  As one of his British friends said “He was kind, funny, and despite all of his years in America, a quintessential Englishman!”

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society in his name.

Someone I will truly miss on the road and definitely a friend. I will miss the stories told at group dinners or over needed cocktails after exhausting tradeshows in various cities across America! Chris you had me laughing more than once! Rest in peace my friend.

We shared many happy and rewarding connections with Chris and his English family over several decades and we are grateful to Chris for introducing us to some of America's quirkier attractions. Our thoughts are with Linda in her loss.

I have known Chris since I was 14 and he was 21 in Almondsbury, UK. We have remained firm friends ever since and I am going to miss him so much. I have so many treasured memories which we often re-visited, especially when Chris and Linda came to stay with us. I will never forget you and will talk about you often to my daughters, Melissa and Deborah, who came to love Chris as much as I did.

It has been my pleasure to work with Chris (and Linda) over the last 18 years - and what began as a business arrangement became a true friendship. My heart goes out to Linda and family at this sad time. Chris will be dearly missed. He was dedicated, enthusiastic and tireless in his work and I know there will be many friends from "the road" that will feel his loss. What I am going to miss most - his chuckle, his understated little "hmmmm?" that ended many a sentence and his lovely dry British wit.

Chris was one of the finest true English gentlemen that I had the pleasure to call my friend. Chris will be surely missed by all his friends in the travel and tourism industries. My love and prayers for his family and to Linda for her loss during this difficult time.
