Obituary

Currie (Bob) Robert Bean was born on January 2, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan.   He was one of 4 children born from the union of the late Clyde Dillard Bean and Lena (Caruthers) Bean.    Bob joined the United States Airforce where he proudly served during Post Vietnam War until his honorable discharge, and returned to Warren, Michigan March 1960.

He married the former, Joyce Gail Raines.   The couple were together 53 years and had 5 children.   They retired to the Ocala area in 1995 and spent many years together there until her passing on January 22, 2012.   Bob remained in the area because he really loved his neighbors and they became like family to him.

Bob was a hardworking, kind man, he retired after working 30 years at TRW Automotive in Sterling Heights, Michigan.  Bob learned the irrigation business and shared that knowledge with his sons.  He installed simple sprinkler systems to elaborate time setting systems, there was no job too big.  As a father Bob loved to dirt bike ride, fishing and water skiing with his children he was tireless when it came to spending time with his family.

Bob had a great love for helping his friends and family.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed helping his friend Mark with his hunting achievements.  Bob especially enjoyed spending time with his daughter and son-in-law on their ranch, he was a hardworking cowboy.  Each weekend he went to the ranch was like a holiday for him, he was eager to help.

Currie Robert Bean, age 82, of Ocala, Florida peacefully passed away on Thursday; June 3, 2021 at Advent Health Ocala after a short illness.   His passing was proceeded by both of his parents, his wife: Joyce Gail, his son Timothy Andrew, his sister Patricia J. Fox and brother-in-law Roy Fox.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his 4 Children Daniel G. (Maria) Bean, Susan R. (James) Knapp, Neena R. (Paul) Bedard, Robert A. (Laura) Bean:  Brother Carold W. (Judy) Bean, F. Stanley (Dianne) Bean; 5 grandchildren; Daniel, Sarah, Emily, Layna and Morgan and 2 great grandchildren; Amelia and Lyla.  He has many in-law’s; Ronnie Raines, Lucille Williamson, Ronald (Lois) Castle and many Nieces and Nephews.

The Bean family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to all those who have supported us during this time of loss.   Special thanks to Bobs companion Dina for being such a great friend and enjoying life with our father, we all want to thank her and know how much our father cared for her.

Our condolences to your family. Dina is a close friend and we met Bob through Dina. Bob always had his phone ready with family pictures and the ranch. He was so proud of the work that he got to do there building the barn. Bob invited us to a bonfire and we had a family affair that day and didn’t go. He loved his family. He waited vigilantly for the baby horse to be born only to be hospitalized and not be there. Bob had a smile and a twinkle in his eyes that couldn’t be matched. The last time that we saw Bob, he and Dina drove into our yard in the evening in the white Mercedes convertible. They were laughing like kids and the blue lights shone brightly all around the car. They were off in no time laughing and waving. Dina cared very much for Bob and did everything in her power to help Bob feel better. She helped with the pool, watering, and of course made soup and his favorite peanut butter sheet cake. They both suffered the loss of their spouses but were a great team helping each other and enjoying each other’s company.
We are so sorry for your loss as Bob seemed so healthy and active for his age. It has been a shock to us and he’ll be greatly missed!
