Obituary

Hastings, MN/Punta Gorda, FL – On Saturday, February 20, 2021, Curtis Arthur Heitschmidt, loving husband, father of two daughters, two bonus daughters and loyal friend to many, passed away at the age of 83.

Curtis “Curt” was born on December 19, 1937 in Chicago, IL to Robert and Jeanne (Antrim) Heitschmidt.  He provided for his family as an insurance adjuster in Minnesota for over 35 years. On December 14, 2002 he married Nancy Keppler and welcomed 2 bonus daughters into his family.  After residing in Woodville, WI for 10 years, Curt’s dream of moving to FL was realized when he and Nancy moved to Punta Gorda in 2013.

God, family and friends were important to Curt.  He was involved in his church in WI as well as the Via de Christo community.  As a young man, he enjoyed model trains and baseball and in later years, Fantasy Football.  Curt loved games, especially strategy and card games.  He was tough to beat and made you earn a win.  He was known for his smile, sense of humor and sharp wit.

Curt was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ted and Robert.  He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his four children Robyn (Greg), Jodi, Julie (James) and Cindy; 8 grandchildren, Justin (Melanie), Megan, Jayden (Brooke), Kylie, Rylan, Bryson, Owen and Audrey, and several nieces and nephews.

Curt’s family would like to thank the staff of Tidewell Hospice for their compassionate care, as well as many supportive family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
