Obituary
CYRUS Q. STEWART, JR
(October 27, 1924 – July 19, 2019)
Cy has left this earth after 94 years to go fishing with Jesus in the heavenly seas and to feast in Paradise with his beloved wife Pat, daughter Rebecca, parents Cyrus & Mildred (Lynam) Stewart,Sr, brother Bill, sister Jane & her son Billy and other beloved deceased family, friends, and cherished dogs. Cy was born into this world on Oct. 27, 1924, in Ft. Myers, FL. He went to U of Alabama (UF only had men then!) but left there to join the Navy during WWII. He was stationed in Naples, Italy. Upon returning to Ft. Myers, he met Pat Schooley in May and married her in December, 1946. He became an avid Gator fan, graduating from U of Florida in 1949 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He began his career with MacDonald Aircraft in St. Louis, MO, and retired from an historical career with NASA at KSC in January, 1985. Cy enjoyed his family, home, and church in Merritt Island. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, especially his cabin, church, planes, hunting, and fishing in Tok, Alaska, and watching Gator games with family.
Cy is survived by daughters: the Rev. Pam Stewart (Bob) and Susan Filichia (Rick); grandchildren: Lori Gentile, MD (Joe, MD), Mark Filichia (Emily), Sgt 1st Class Sean Crimmins (Stephanie), and Erin Collins (Cody); great grandchildren: Kaleb & Sara Crimmins, Jack & Paige Gentile, and Lucy & Abigail Filichia and several nieces and nephews.
