Obituary
Darlene “Dee” Laurel Klinger, born 5/19/1930 in Chicago, Illinois to her mother, Vera Laurel (Deceased), and father, Arthur Laurel (Deceased), along with her brother, Warren (Deceased), her sister, Caye, and her sister, Ardel (Deceased). She is survived by her three daughters, Pam (Mike, deceased) Cushing, Sandy (Ossie) Boydston, and Terri (Jim) Martin. Her grandchildren, James, Ramey, John, Jesse, and Casey. Her great grandchildren, Colby, Logan, Kasen, Titus, Felicity, and Kenny. Her little sister Caye and little brother Pat. Her nieces and nephews, John, Jodell, Ben Arthur, Marybeth, and Lucy. Her special nieces, Karen, Paula, Liz, and Lynnie.
Darlene went to school at IBM in Chicago, where she learned how to keypunch and later became a computer operator. She started in data processing in 1948 and continued until she retired in 1990.
She and her husband, Rudy, loved traveling and going to his yearly Seabee reunions. He was a Navy Seabee during WWII. After his death, she continued meeting with their friends at every yearly reunion.
She loved working in the yard and with her houseplants. Even with her black thumb, she always hoped they would survive. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Darlene loved helping people and animals. She volunteered at Brother’s Keeper, the local animal shelter, and the soup kitchen.
