Obituary

David Desclos, formerly of Conway, New Hampshire, passed away at the age of 84 at his home in The Villages, Florida on February 4, 2024 after a lengthy illness with his loving and caring wife and sister-in-law by his side.

David was born in Nashua, New Hampshire to the late Patrick and Lucille (Douville) Desclos and moved to Danvers, Massachusetts when he was five years old. He was educated in the Danvers school system and lived most of his life in Massachusetts. On July 4, 1970 he met the love of his life, Diane, through a friend of his and they were married a year later.

Dave retired in 1997 from General Electric Company in Lynn, Massachusetts after 32 years. Within those years he attended Northeastern University in the Burlington campus and in Boston where he earned an Associate’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management. He and Diane moved to their home in Madison, New Hampshire after he retired.

Dave was an organic gardener for many years with extensive flower and vegetable gardens to share and for all to enjoy. He was an avid downhill skier in the White Mountains of New Hampshire for more than 45 years. His favorite mountain was Wildcat. Eventually he became a member of the Penguin ski club in Bartlett, NH and then years later joined the Massaschussers ski club in Glen, NH. While a member there he served on the Board of Directors and was a past President. Dave raced in the Mountain Meisters winter race program and also in the Hannes Schneider Meister Cup race at Mt. Cranmore in No. Conway, NH. He served on the Board of Directors of the HOA at Hale Estates in Conway, NH where he lived for 13 years with his wife in their custom built home which he helped design. Dave was a member of the TGIF social group and also served on the Board of Directors, and was a member of the men’s Turtles golf group at Wentworth golf club in Jackson Village, NH. He also volunteered for Habitat Humanity, the Polar Express, Mud Bowl, and the Mount Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Dave with his wife enjoyed traveling outside and within the United States, and he especially enjoyed the cross-country road trips in their motorhome which was his dream. In 2017 he gave up his ski boots and skis for his golf shoes and golf clubs after moving to The Villages, Florida. He enjoyed playing golf every week with the neighborhood golf group, and belonged to other golf organizations. He also enjoyed playing pickleball.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Moretz Berger and is survived and will be deeply missed by his beloved devoted wife of 52 years, Diane, his sister-in-law, Helen Gesek of Largo, FL, niece Lynne Naramore and husband Scott of Grand Junction, CO, nephews David O’Brien of Plymouth, MA, and Zachary Moretz and wife Lisa of Concord, NC, grandnephews Mason and Walker Naramore of Grand Junction, CO, Aidan O’Brien of Plymouth, MA, Chase, Tate, and Sawyer Moretz of Concord, NC, and grandniece Piper Moretz of Concord, NC. A very special thank you to dear friends Judy and Ed Johnson of The Villages.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Dave’s life by gathering for his graveside service at a later date in Danvers, MA. Those who wish to remember him may send contributions to Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation, 5985 Silver Falls Run, Suite 210, Bradenton, FL 3421, or The Parkinson’s Foundation at parkinson.org or 200 SE 1st Street Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
