David J. LaPlante Sr.
December 21, 1941 – March 28, 2024
David J. LaPlante Sr. was born on December 21, 1941 in Crookston, MN and passed away after a brief illness on the morning of March 28, 2024 in The Villages, FL. He was predeceased by his parents, David and Ann (Rosing) LaPlante and half-sister Bonita. David is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Nancy (Gravelle), children; David Jr. (Lisa), Amy (Mike), Julie, and Michael (Rebecca), and grandchildren; Ashley, Sarah, David III, Samantha, Kyra, and Jack, as well as his sisters Virginia Manning (Tom) and Sandy Marr (Mallory).
David was a USAF veteran, served with the Connecticut Air National Guard, and was a graduate of Central Connecticut State University. He and Nancy resided in Middletown, CT for 34 years where they raised their family. He retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and the Connecticut Air National Guard in 1999. Dave volunteered for adult literacy, Habitat for Humanity, and was a frequent doner to the blood bank. He enjoyed international travel and cruising with family and friends and shared his love of the outdoors, especially hiking, camping, and canoeing with his children and grandchildren.
At his request, there will be no formal services.
