Obituary

Delores J. McManus, most often known as Nana, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 17th, 2024, at the age of 93.  She was born on March 21st, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois.  Delores is survived by her daughter, Josan (Keith) Lake, and grand daughters Jenna (Mathew) Lake-Becker, & Dana Lake.

Throughout her life, Nana was known for her compassion, tenacity, sass, and unwavering love for her family.  She dedicated herself to nurturing those around her, providing warmth, love, and laughs to her friends and family.  Nana had a small stature, but a sassy attitude and fierce spirit that could light up any room she walked into.

In her youth, she loved to travel and often could be found dancing the night away on many ballroom dance floors.  She would often speak of her boyfriend “Jim”, whom all would soon find out was the one and only Jim Beam.

As a devoted mother, Nana’s love and support were unwavering as she watched over her daughter, Josan, and son-in-law, Keith, with boundless pride and joy. Her heart swelled with happiness as she witnessed the arrival of two precious blessings into their lives: Jenna Marie and Dana Ashley. She delighted in being a part of her daughter’s, son-in-law’s, and granddaughters’ lives, cherishing each milestone, from their first steps to their academic achievements and beyond. Nana’s legacy as a devoted mother and grandmother is one of love, strength, and unwavering support, forever etched in the hearts of her family.

Nana’s heart overflowed with love for all creatures great and small, including her beloved great-grand dogs: Bella, Frankie Sinatra, and Griswold. She embraced each furry friend with open arms, their wagging tails and playful antics bringing joy to her days. Nana’s love for animals extended beyond the present, as she held dear the memory of cherished companions like Ms. Pearl and all those who came before. Her compassionate spirit and devotion to her furry family members will forever be remembered with fondness and gratitude.

Nana’s memory will be forever treasured by her family and friends. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

May Delores’s soul find peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
