Obituary

Delphine M. Rickard passed away on February 27, 2024 at her home in Eustis, Florida.

Del was born July 24, 1941 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Karl and Estell Moore (Palkowski).  She was one of seven children including four sisters Caroline, Christine, Bernice, and Mary, as well as two brothers Marvin and Arnie.

Del graduated from Casimir Pulaski High School in Milwaukee in 1959.  In September 1961 she married Richard F. Rickard of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage.

Del and Rick enjoyed traveling together visiting many areas of the United States including Alaska and traveled throughout the world to numerous countries including France, Italy, Germany, Peru, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Peru, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, St. Thomas, and several islands of the Bahamas.

In 1968 they moved their family from Wisconsin to Lake Worth, Florida where they owned and operated the Southgate motel.  Subsequently, they owned numerous businesses in Palm Beach County, Florida including Boulevard Paints, Decorating World, a vertical blinds factory, a children’s furniture store named Kookie Bear, and Florida fitness center.  She had a great business sense and ran the financial side of the companies while Rick handled the operations.

The family moved to Singer Island, Florida in 1974 where they raised their two children, Pam Rickard of San Luis Obispo, California and Jim Rickard of Maitland, Florida.  They resided on Singer Island until 2000 when, upon retirement, they moved to their current home in Eustis, Florida.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren James Rickard and Caroline Rickard of Maitland, Florida.  She spent many hours taking them to parks, playing games, and spoiling them with treats.

Del loved animals and nature, each day she would sit on her deck and watch the birds, rabbits, squirrels, and foxes in her backyard.  She was an avid supporter of the World Wildlife Federation.

She also enjoyed the outdoors and could be found working in her yard and garden for hours each day.

The common description of Del provided by family, friends, and neighbors was that she was one of the genuinely nicest people they knew.
