Obituary
December 20, 1940 – April 12, 2024
Donald J. Brice passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024 in Port Orange, Florida, surrounded by his family. Donald leaves behind his devoted wife of 44 years, Brenda; his daughters, April Salazar (husband Diego), Rachel Page (partner Clint), Meghan Brice DuBell (husband Sean), Katie Neely (husband Chris); grandchildren Karis Padham, Patrick Ryan Kelly, RJ Sneden, Ruthie Page, James Neely, William Neely, and Jovie Page; great – grandchildren Kaya Rosen, and Akasha Rosen: sister Sara Lucas; stepsister Marilyn Stinson; stepbrother Ross Bradie; and many in laws and nieces and nephews.
Don was born in Westbrook, Maine where he lived with his parents James and Eleanor, and younger sister Sara until joining the US AirForce in the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam War era. Don enjoyed sporting events of all types and he turned his passion into a career while working at the Hoosier Dome Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana; the Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami Florida; the Daytona International Speedway; and the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa Florida. Don was an avid reader and enjoyed many volumes of fiction by his favorite author Louis L’amour. Don was a longtime member of The Drive-In Christian Church and served in various volunteer positions throughout the years. Don played golf most of his life and enjoyed coaching players both young and old in the practice of putting. Don was the first President of the Men’s Golf Association at Cypress Head Golf Course Course in Port Orange Florida. Don enjoyed making others laugh, and spent time after retirement in the local comedy circuits often performing as an amateur comedian in clubs between east and west coast Florida.
Don’s favorite pastime was spending afternoons with his beloved grandson RJ. Don will be missed, but as he reminded his family often… let the laughter continue.
A private cremation will take place to honor Don’s wishes, and a memorial service to be held at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery thereafter. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Don’s name to your favorite charity, favorite scholarship, or Hospice .
Words cannot express how sorry we are for your loss. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Praying you find the peace that only He can offer and the comfort to get through these next days and weeks ahead. We are here if you need anything. We love you all very much!
