Donald L. Clausen (D.L.) was born December 15, 1931 to Nels and Iola Clausen near Brayton Iowa.   He lived on the family farm until graduating High School. He then attended Grandview College in Des Moines, Iowa graduating with a B.A in Education in 1952.  Don enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in November 1952 during the Korean War and served as a Radar and Electronic Counter Measures instructor at Keesler Air Force Base until 1956.  He met Mary Eggleston during this time and they were married October 29, 1955 in Biloxi, MS. He started working in the Defense Aerospace industry after Service and relocated several times during the late 50’s finally coming to Orlando in 1961 to work for The Martin Company (now Lockheed Martin).  He worked on several major defense missile systems ending with the Pershing project in the mid 70’s. During this time, he worked tirelessly to further his education and earned both Bachelors of Science and Masters of Commercial Science Degrees from Rollins College.  In 1977, he moved to what is now Northrop Grumman Laser Systems in Apopka, retiring as a Senior Logistics Engineer in 1996. After retirement, Don consulted with various Technical Schools as a Curriculum Advisor and volunteered time to the Professional Employment Network to help place unemployed highly skilled and educated Engineers back into the workforce.
