Obituary

Douglas Carl Pederson (Doug) passed away peacefully on April 13, 2024, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Doug was born in Redfield, SD, to Donald and Mildred (Hestad) Pederson on January 25, 1947. He grew up in Dawson, Minnesota with his brother Dave and his sister Nancy. Doug attended high school at Augustana Academy in Canton, SD where he graduated in 1965. While in college, he enlisted in the US Airforce in 1970 and served as a weapons mechanic loading bombs in B52s out of Thailand during the Vietnam War. He was married to Jean Flaa for nineteen years and had two sons, Scott and Michael. In 1990, Doug married Brenda Londgren and gained another son, Dustin.

Doug owned and operated Midwest Truck and Parts in Dawson, MN with his brother Dave from 1980 until his retirement in 2007. Upon retiring, he and Brenda moved to Lake Minnewaska in Glenwood, MN. In 2022, Doug and Brenda moved to Babcock Ranch, FL after wintering in Fort Myers in their motorhome for many years. He and Brenda enjoyed traveling around the United States in their motorhome. Doug loved driving – not just cars, but his motorhome, Jeep, boat, and many other toys he enjoyed over the years. He had an adventurous spirit and a love for exploration, often preferring the scenic backroads. Doug loved to watch racing and took great pride in his toy tractor collection.

With a sharp mind for business, Doug was always thinking and loved making deals. Behind the businessman was a generous, kind, and funny man with a soft side few people had the privilege of seeing. He loved Hallmark movies and was known for being a prankster who loved to tease. Doug was known by his catchphrase, “Jeeeeez!” and often made his friends and family laugh with his antics. Sharing tidbits of wisdom and teaching life lessons to his sons and grandchildren brought him great joy. Doug loved spoiling his grandchildren, Jake, Annika, Jacob, and Vegas – often buying them toys to leave at Grandma and Grandpa’s house so that they could enjoy watching the kids have fun together. He became a great-grandpa to Lauren and Calvin in 2023.

Doug leaves behind a family who will cherish his memory forever. This includes his wife, Brenda, and their sons: Scott (Christi) Pederson of Alexandria, MN, Michael Pederson of Dawson, MN, and Dustin (Molly) Londgren of Middleville, MI; grandchildren, Jake Pederson of Lowry, MN, Annika (Brady) Krueger of Fargo, ND, Jacob Pederson of Dawson, MN, and Vegas Pederson of Alexandria, MN; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Calvin Krueger; sister, Nancy (Al) Murphy; brother, Dave (Peggy) Pederson; parents-in-law, Harold and Barbara Larson; brother-in-law, Danny (Susie) Larson; and many nieces and nephews. Doug will be missed by his dog, Maddie, and his cats, Maverick and Marco. He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mildred Pederson, and grandson Ernie Londgren. A celebration remembering Doug’s life will take place in Minnesota at a future date.
