Obituary
Dwayne Burton David of Newark, Ohio, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away at 88 on December 29, 2022; he is now present with the Lord. Dwayne was born in Phelps County, Nebraska on September 12, 1934. He attended high school in Loomis, Nebraska where he lettered in both football and basketball. Dwayne served in the army during the Korean War. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Northern Colorado. After college, his first job was with Greeley Gas Company in Greeley, Colorado. Dwayne was Superintendent of Fire and Auto in Ohio with State Farm Insurance. He earned CLU and CPCU insurance designations. He married the love of his life, Donna Jeanne Hilton, on May 26, 1957; and they were happily married for 65 years! Dwayne was an avid runner and ran several marathons including the New York Marathon, many 13.1 and 5K runs. He loved waterskiing, boating, fishing, biking, playing softball as a pitcher, and dancing. He spent many years dancing with Donna. Dwayne loved to travel. He and Donna traveled to all 50 states, the Canadian provinces, 15 European countries, and went on several cruises. Dwayne and Donna spent several winters in Tucson, Arizona, where they hiked the mountains and spent time with friends at their retirement community. Dwayne was known for his quick-witted humor, fierce determination, and generous spirit. Dwayne was proceeded in death by his parents, Everett Roscoe David, Retha B. Geer David, his grandson Joshua Chase David, his sister Peggy Piepenbrock, and his brothers Ronald, Richard, Roger, and Paul David. Dwayne is survived by his wife, Donna, his children, Debra Watson (Michael), Doug David (Julie), Diane Gemienhardt (Greg), and Denise Morris (Mark), and his siblings Elaine Schell, Bonita Sturgis (Everett), Mary Johnson (Edward), Retha Jo Luttrell, Johnnie David (Harriet), Larry David (Cynthia), Michael David (Trisha), his grandchildren, Dustin Watson (Karen), Melissa Watson, Megan Watson, Grace Watson, Angela Lamprecht (Chris), Kyle David, Dylan David (Abbegael), Dalton David, Dawson David, Seth Gemienhardt, Sean Gemienhardt, Tiffany Robinson (Mason), Zachary Morris (Brooke), Brooklyn Morris, Cassidy Morris, Summer Morris, and Xavier Morris, his great grandchildren, Palace, Story, and Rocky Robinson, Rosalynn Lamprecht and Maui Morris. Dwayne’s greatest enjoyment in his life was his wife, four children, eighteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He always put his family first. He was the ultimate family man and will be loved forever. A family celebration of his life is planned for the Spring, 2023.
