Obituary
Edmund “Ed” Corrado, fisherman and gardener in his later years, left his Earthly life surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, to join our Father in eternal life.
Ed, beloved husband, father, and grandfather was born on May 23, 1936, to parents Julia Eletto Corrado and Edmund Carmine Corrado of Brooklyn, New York. He attended and graduated from Hillside High School and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1956, proudly serving his country.
Ed is described as a humble man who didn’t ask for much from anyone. He counted his blessings, was hard-working, had an incredible work ethic, and was never afraid to juggle multiple responsibilities, including working three jobs for many years to support his family. This included a 13-year stint at the Newark Star Ledger and real estate sales in Clark, New Jersey. Seeing great promise in the Florida real estate market, and ever striving for greater opportunities for himself and his family, Ed took a giant leap of faith in the early 1980s and moved his family to Port Orange, Florida without a job in place. He went on to work for decades in the Florida real estate industry, specializing in vacation condominiums in Daytona and New Smyrna Beach until his retirement in 2006.
Once retired, Ed threw himself into his passions — gardening, fishing, beach days and spending time with family. His gardens, which included all types of foliage, flowers, and fruit and vegetable trees, drew many admiring comments from his neighbors and community. Many of the fruits and vegetables he grew ended up in his family’s belly (LOL!), including delicious grapefruit, bell and cubanelle peppers, and herbs. The other great passion in his life was his church and serving God in any way he could. Over the last several years, this included service as a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus (Councils 8791 and 2901) at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, where he also ushered.
Ed’s wife of 60 years, Mary Ann, describes him as an incredible husband and loving father to their daughter Cynthia (Orlando, FL) and sons Edmund Carmine (Casselberry, FL) and Anthony Michael (Ormond Beach, FL). Other survivors include daughter-in-law Lisa, daughter-in-law Vircel and grandsons Edmund John and Christian Michael, daughter-in-law Kristine and grandsons Triston and Sean, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ed is predeceased by his parents and brothers Vincent (Sonny), Joseph and Gerard.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 28th at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 South Nova Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
