Obituary

Edmund "Ed" Hecht 79 left this earth on March 31, 2014 with his wife Bernis Lynn Hecht by his bedside in Altamonte Springs, Florida as a result of lung cancer brought on by Mesothelioma. Edmund was born on Decmeber 7, 1936 in Jersey City, NJ to Harry and Sophie Hecht. Ed was an internationally known and respected consultant in management, marketing, and technical service. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and his MBA in management from Southern Methodist University. He was also a graduate of the General Electric Company Management Institute Business Management Course. Prior to his start as an independent consultant in 1981, Ed was a founder, President and General Manager of Turbo Machinery Repair, INC. in Corpus Christi, Texas. Ed has a 23 year distinguished career at General Electric Company. During his career he served as a staff consultant in management, strategic planning, organizational planning, business planning, and acquisition manufacturing and engineering, marketing research, sales and marketing for apparatus service and engineering service divisions of the company. Ed served as a Board Member of the Corpus Christi Independent School District and taught numerous management and marketing college level courses at Texas AM Kingsville University, University of Kremenchuk-Ukraine, Embry Riddle University, Del Mar College-Corpus Christi and University of Jordan-Amman, Jordan. He also was a board member of the former Synagogue Temple Beth. One of Ed's biggest accomplishments was being recognized as a Fullbright Scholar by President William Clinton. As a representative and volunteer for USAID, Ed and Bernis traveled the world helping others. Ed took pride in helping local businesses become successful and learn then skills necessary to succeees on thier own. Ed was involved in numerous professional organizations including: American Society of Appraisers, American Society of Mechanical Engineers. National Center for Dispute Resolution. Tau Beta Pi national honorary engineering socitey and Shriners International. Edmund enjoyed golfing, tennis, hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr Hecht is survived by his wife of 57 years Bernis, sister Claire, daughter Rhonda and her husband David, son Harry, and three grandchildren; Brook, Harrison, and Griffin.
