Passed away January 24, 2018 at The Villages Hospital, The Villages, Fl. He was married to Nancy (Watto) Kirchdoerfer, they celebrated thirty-one years of marriage in Sept. He was 84 years old.Born: March 2, 1933 in East Mauch Chunk, Pa. now Jim Thorpe, Pa.He was the son of William & Mabel (Smith) Knappenberger Kirchdoerfer.He attended East Mauch Chunk High School.He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.He retired from the PBNE railroad as a car car man at the Bethlehem Steel Plant. He wasa delivery driver for Brights Department Store, Lehighton, Pa. fondly known as “The Brights Man”. He was an avid golfer, who enjoyed crossword puzzles and card games.A member of the Tues/Sat. men’s golf leagues of the Villages, and was head of the Pa. Club golf outings for many years known as the Kirk Scramble.He was a member of American Legion Post 304, Jim Thorpe, Pa.He had a smile and kind word for everyone and enjoyed life.
Survivors: Beloved wife, Nancy (Watto) Kirchdoerfer of The Villages, Fl. Daughters, Dr. Elaine ( Dr. Michael) Kirk, Kennett Square, Pa. Debra (Ron) Adelberg, West Chester, Pa., Shirley Kirchdoerfer, Summit Hill, Pa. Sisters: Eleanor (James) Nardozzi, Nesquehoning, Pa. and Shirley (Albert) Bennick, Myerstown, Pa. He was pre-deceased by half-brothers Earl and Clifford Knappenberger, infant brother William Kirchdoerfer, and Sister Alma Wernett. He has seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephew.
He is a member of St. George Episcopal Church, The Villages, Fl., where he enjoyed being a part of the church choir. A memorial service will be held in Jim Thorpe, Pa.. at a later date.
