Obituary

Elizabeth E. (Ross) Schnebel was born in Gowanda, NY on December 15, 1952.  She passed away at her home in Weirsdale, Florida on December 6, 2022, at the age of 69.

Liz graduated from Gowanda Central School in 1971.  She was involved in many school activities and clubs.  She especially enjoyed her time as a Majorette.  She attended State University of New York at Fredonia, where she earned her degree in Elementary Education.  She moved to Florida following graduation from college.

Throughout her working years, she taught elementary school, enjoyed a long career in the restaurant service industry, and spent many years as a realtor.  She developed many long-term friendships during her high school years, through each of her jobs, through her involvement in a host of volunteer and social engagements, her bible study and church, which led to a plethora of loving, supportive lifelong friends whom she cherished.

Liz volunteered for many years in support of Marion County Relay for Life.  She was a long-time member of the Lake Weir Yacht Club, where she served one year as Commodore.  She was a member of Save Lake Weir for many years while appreciating the valuable services they provide to the Lake Community in the form of education and environmental care taking.  She was a member of the Ocala Sailing Club.  She was a member and past secretary of Women’s Council of Realtors of Ocala/Marion County.  She worshiped at the Mosaic Church in Winter Garden, Fla.

Liz was a kind, generous person who loved her family and friends unconditionally.  She was always the life of the party. She loved spending time with friends and sailing with her husband on their catamaran.  She especially enjoyed the Light up Lake Weir boat parade each December.  She and Dan often entered and placed in the competition. The hand carved sign made by her beloved husband, Dan, sums it all up: “Where there’s Life, there’s Liz”.  She will be greatly missed.

Liz is survived by sisters, Kay Ross-Dobbertin (late Fred) of Otto, NY; Nancy Kroog (John) of Stony Point, NY; Audrey Cline (Steve) of Gowanda, NY; Candace Barrett (Corinne) of Ramona, California and brother Fran Ross Jr. of Gowanda NY along with 2 half-sisters, 2 sisters-in-law, nieces (Kate, Sara, Connie, Heather, and Tonya), nephews (Robin, Matthew, Patrick, Michael, Joshua, Joseph, Jesse, Jeremy, Bradley and Sean), Dan’s 6 nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews, one great, great nephew and a close cousin Karen (Tommy) Weber and family who included her in many holidays as part of their family in Florida.

She was predeceased by her husband, Dan, her parents, Francis H. Ross, Sr. and Myra J. Press, stepfather, William Press, her sister, April Musial, and a sister-in-law.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please “pay it forward” in any way you choose.

Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-480-5959.  Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com.

    To my sister
    Liz
    My sister was a warrior,
She fought hard until the end.
She'll be missed by many people,
whether Family or a dear friend.
    I'll cherish all the memories,
like binge watching "The Chosen" on TV.
or just watching as the sun set,
as amazing as it was to see.
So many things she shared with me,
it wasn't hard for me to see.
That "Where There's Life There's Liz!",
couldn't have described her more perfectly.
    To me an inspiration,
filled with kind and gentle love.
    Gone too soon to Heaven,
now watching over us from above.

    Until we see you again
    Love, your little sister
    Candy

Corinne and I are both thankful and grateful to Liz
She opened up her home, her heart and her world to us during these last months.
Her friends and neighbors are those that the world needs more of! Bless you ALL!

Our friend Liz......she took us KY people into her life 3 years ago. Whatever Liz did, she was "all in", giving of herself, her time and her attention. A good soul who missed her mate but continued on with her purpose in life. She gave us guidance as regards living in Florida and introduced us to camillias, which she loved. We cannot express her innate kindness and her generosity but to say that in Liz, God created a good soul with a bright and loving spirit. The world needs more like her....we miss you Liz.
