Elva Jean Owensby, 86, of New Smyrna Beach died Friday, July 9, 2010 with her daughter by her side. Jean was born July 12, 1923 in Brookville, Pennsylvania. She was a “Harvey Girl” in Texas for some time. During WW II she worked in the ammunition plant in Ohio where she was proud that she was able to serve her county. Jean was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be remember for her love to her family. She and her husband moved to New Smyrna Beach from Memphis, TN 25 years ago. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 1996. She is survived by her twin children, Darlas (Gene) Alderson and Douglas (Joyce) Owensby; four grandchildren, Mike Alderson, Michele Floyd, Douglas Owensby, Jr and Jennifer Owensby and one great grandchild, Nolan Floyd.
