Obituary
Eva Rita (Kovach) Palanes, 92, Ocala, FL, passed away September 22, 2022, at Estelle’s Hospice House in Ocala, FL. She was born in Central City, PA to Vasil and Maria (Prodan) Kovach. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of almost 50 years, Vincent John Palanes; daughter, Mary K. Spaid; son, Brian C. Palanes; brothers Charles, Stephen, George, and Joseph; and sisters Anna Galish, Mary Funk, Christina Kovach, and Helena (Judy) Allard. She is survived by her daughter, Rita M. Bostwick (Ocala, FL); son, Alan P, Palanes (Ocala, FL); grandsons Vincent R. Spaid (Moira) (Clermont, FL) and Christopher J. Palanes (Lori), great grandson Lucas Charles Palanes (Somerset, PA); granddaughter Amy L. Palanes (Somerset, PA) and sister, Elizabeth Shibilski (Naples, FL); first cousin Bill Kovach (Annette) Vernon, British Columbia, Canada; and an abundance of nieces and nephews all over the US and Canada. Eva lived most of her life in Central City, PA, where she was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church (formerly Sacred Heart Church) where she was involved in the Society of Angels, the choir, Lector and Eucharistic Minister. Eva enjoyed having her family and extended families over for holiday celebrations, family reunions, dinners, and a quick supper anytime anyone was in town and stopped by her house, even unannounced. She also belonged to the Red Hats. She was the cafeteria manager for Shade School District for 28 years and was a “Toy Lady”, hosting toy parties in many homes. After her husband died, Eva became snowbird in FL before moving there in 2013. There, she was a member of the Women’s Club, choir, Classy Lassies and the Red Hats. **Visitation for Eva will be held on MONDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2022 from 12:00 PM until the time of her Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM in the Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church, 4047 NE 21st Street, Ocala, Florida 34470. After Eva’s Funeral Mass in Ocala, she will be transported home to Central City, Pennsylvania where a Funeral Mass will be held in her hometown in the Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Visitation the prior evening in the Robert F. Mulcahy Funeral Home, with dates and time to be determined. Burial will follow her Funeral Mass in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Cemetery, Central City, Pennsylvania.
