Obituary

Fanny Greene, 91, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2024, in Orlando, Florida. She will be remembered for her smile, laughter, and playful banter; her affection for flowers; her joyful singing; and most notably, her great love for family.

Fanny was born on June 15, 1932, in Chiquinquirá, Colombia to Pedro and Saturia Quiñones, whom she loved dearly. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1961 and later became a naturalized citizen; however, her love for her home country and those she left behind never wavered.

In 1965, a neighbor played matchmaker and introduced Fanny to her son, Ozzie Greene. They quickly fell in love and a few months later they celebrated New Year’s Eve by getting married. Together they had one child. Fanny found great joy in being a mother and doted on her daughter.

She greatly anticipated visits from family and would do everything she could to make them feel welcome.

In her later years, she enjoyed crafting, antiquing, solving jigsaw puzzles, and playing a mean game of Bingo.

Fanny is predeceased by her husband, Ozzie; parents, Pedro and Saturia; sisters Maria (Eduardo) Montaña, Graciela (Hernando) Paez, Aracely (Gustavo) Camacho, and Rebecca Quiñones; brothers Pedro, Luis, Francisco, Victor, and Laureano ‘Larry’ Quiñones; brother-in-law, Humberto López; and nephew, Jorge Montaña.

She is survived by her daughter, Rosandra, grandchild Cif Montequin; stepsons Joel and Donald Greene; sister, Dora López; brother Tomas (Phyllis) Quiñones; sisters-in-law Esther, Mercedes, Lucila, Hena, Debra, and Judy Quiñones; and 51 nieces and nephews.

Much loved, her absence will be deeply felt. Condolences may be sent directly to her daughter and grandchild. Alternatively, you may opt to cultivate a lovely blossoming perennial as a tribute to her memory.
