Obituary

Florence (Ryan) Manning, 94, of Ocala, FL and formally of Rye, NY passed away peacefully at
her home on April 6, 2022 surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Leighton Manning
for 55 years.
Flo was born in 1927 in Brooklyn, NY and was raised in Bay Bulls, NL, Canada. She attended
Littledale college for secretarial studies before moving to NY where she eventually worked as an
Administrative Assistant for over 40 years with Exxon Mobil Corporation. During her years living
in Rye, she was a member of the Rye Country Club and volunteered, dedicating many years to
the Rye Association for the Handicapped. She enjoyed trips to Maine each summer with her
husband and traveling the world with her family. Flo continued to embrace a large circle of
friends living in Ocala, who all appreciated her kindness, humor and Irish wit. Most of all, she
was steadfast in her faith and a longtime member of Queen of Peace Church.
Beloved sister of Elizabeth, a most cherished aunt to 13 nieces and nephews, and a much loved
extended family, neighbors and friends. She was a true animal lover and a beacon of light and
love to those she guided. She will be so greatly missed.
There will be a funeral mass at Queen of Peace, 6455 SW Highway 200, Ocala, FL, on Monday
5/23/2022 at 8:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in her memory to Hospice of Marion County. P.O.

First met Flo when she and Leighton (my older brother) came to Daytona Beach, FL. on their honeymoon in July of 1952. Over the years, my wife (Rita) and I have only fond memories of our visits together with her at their homes in Rye, NY, and Ocala, FL, and at our homes in Atlanta, GA, and Orlando, FL. One could not have a better sister-in-law...a delightful lady. My wife and I join many others in mourning her death.

We know Aunt Flo is smiling down on us because she knew she was loved. We know she will keep the angels smiling with her jokes and in return they will remind her when it’s happy hour time!

Oh Flo. You are missed more than words can say. I'll miss laughing at the silliest things, dancing in the living room, watching movies after happy hour and dinner on Sundays. I'll miss your beautiful face, your kindness and caring for others, your quick wit. I'll miss just holding your hand. I hope you send the butterflies to see me to let me know you are thinking of me. Please be at peace now and say hi to everyone up there for me. I love you for always.
