Obituary
Francis Paul Dean, Jr., 89, of Eustis, FL, died peacefully at home on February 19, 2023. He was born in Delray Beach, FL, on August 1, 1933 to Elizabeth Mae Scott Dean, and Francis Paul Dean, Sr.
Paul graduated from Altamont High School in Altamont, New York and earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in Indiana.
The highlight of his long engineering career was working on the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs for NASA at the Kennedy Space Center, where he retired in 1993.
He was an avid collector of Lionel trains and vintage automobiles. One of his proudest accomplishments was restoring his family’s 1931 Model A Ford. He also was a regular volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
He was predeceased by his second wife Rose Mary Dean, and his nephew Timothy Dean Brophy. He is survived by his ex-wife Beverly Grace Fryer Dean Warren.
Paul is survived by three children and ten grandchildren. He was the proud father of Deborah Anne Dean Kearney (Bruce), Ronald Paul Dean (Cynthia) and Terry Lynn Dean Field (James). His grandchildren are John Joseph Kearney, Jennifer Anne Kearney Martin (Patrick), William Alexander Bott (Michelle), Melissa Jean Reinke (Dale), Kristin Michelle Dean Abram (Dr. William), Cassie Rochelle Dean, Sabrina Marie Field Dion (Kevin), Dr. Christy Lynn Field Vernet (Robert), James Michael Field (Caroline), and Dr. Michael Paul Field.
He is survived by nine great-grandchildren: Drake, Chloe, and Mason Bott; Taylor and Sydney Reinke; Esther, Naomi and Miriam Abram; and Douglass James Vernet.
He is survived by his sister Elaine Dean Brophy and her family: Thomas Francis Brophy Jr. (Dr. Kelly Schmidt), Melinda Brophy McKeever (Edward), Christine Robin Brophy Goldstein (Jeffrey), and Timothy Dean Brophy (who predeceased him). He was great-uncle to Thomas Francis Brophy IV; Shaun, Jason and Rebecca McKeever; Adam Goldstein (Lauren) and Jennifer Goldstein Simonovsky (Malcolm); and great-great-uncle to Quinn Goldstein and Julius Simonovsky.
