Obituary
Frederick Carl Koeler, age 75, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Greta Koeler. He is survived by his wife, Linda Koeler, 3 sons, Eric, Jim, and Dave, brother, Bobby, and 6 grandchildren, Morgen, Chloe, Alana, Penelope, Amelia, and Aidan.
Fred was born in Queens, NY then moved to Long Island with his parents and brother during his High School years. Upon graduation of Half Hollow Hills High School, he then went on to New Paltz College where he played basketball and completed his studies in Chemistry and Education. Fred went on to teach High School Chemistry for 33 years at West Islip High School. He passionately coached high school basketball, soccer and golf.
Fred’s passion for golf brought him and his wife to the Dell Web Spruce Creek community in Summerfield, Florida at the start of his retirement. He also volunteered at Monroe Hospital and was a guardian ad litem to help disadvantaged and abused children. Fred was a member of Christ Lutheran church here in Summerfield.
There will be a celebration of life for Fred on Saturday, July 14th at 11am at the Christ Lutheran Church located at Orange Blossom Hills Community Center 9230 SE 154th St., Summerfield, Florida 34491. Donations may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church building fund.
