Obituary
Gary Rayburn Lewis,74, of Fort Myers Beach, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018. He was born October 6, 1943 in Bluford, IL to Halie and Eva (Goss) Lewis.
Gary worked as the Traffic Manager for General Tire/ Continental. He had previously been employed by Harper’s Propane Service and The Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. He served as a Village Board member and was elected as mayor of Bluford, IL. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and Illinois National Guard. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Bluford, IL. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and he enjoyed spending time with his loved ones.
He is survived by his children, Gary Ray Lewis and wife, Lori of Fort Myers, FL; Terry Lewis and wife, Shanon of Carbondale, IL; and Chris Lewis of Bluford, IL. Grandchildren, Rheanda Lewis, Saxon Lewis, Zane Lewis, Sydney Lewis, Shelbie Lewis, Presley Mae Lewis, and Jesse Lewis. Great grandchildren, Izayiah Lewis, Gia (Sweet G) Hartwick, and Jaxon Hartwick. Sibling, Beverly Adams and husband, Charles of Bluford, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet; brothers, Warren, Hallie, Sam, James; and his sister, Marilyn.
