Obituary
Gay Anne Caviness, 75, of Ocklawaha, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Ted and Diane Brandley (hospice) House in Summerfield, FL, on July 15, 2020. Born in Minneapolis on May 2, 1945, her family moved several times while her father served as a fighter pilot with the Flying Tigers 14th Army Air Corps during WWII. When Gay was in high school, her family moved to northeastern Illinois where she lived for over 40 years before relocating to Missouri then Florida.
Gay is survived by her daughters, Dana Schwerman (Alex Lozano II) and Kim Schwerman (Bill); her brother George Caviness; her sister Betsy (Steve) Hanacek; and five nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Joyce (nee Healy) Caviness and George E. Caviness.
A caring friend and avid animal lover, Gay was known for sending thoughtful birthday cards and spoiling her pets. Her sense of humor will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be planned in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Save-A-Pet (Grayslake, IL), Your Humane Society SPCA (Lake Panasofkee, FL) or the Ted and Diane Brandley House (Summerfield, FL).
