Obituary

Gene Wren, 71, passed away on Sunday, March 10th, 2024, in Cape Coral, Florida after battling lung cancer.
Gene was born in Oklahoma to William and Patricia. He graduated high school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and went on to pursue an associate degree in applied science.

He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, a trustee of the Eagles, and a member of the American Legion. He spent most of his time working to start a new club – The American Veterans of Southwest Florida.

Gene was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly and her husband Bradley and 3 grandchildren (Savannah, Cameron, and Declan).

Gene truly enjoyed spending time with his close friends and was passionate about the veteran organizations he was involved in. He always enjoyed putting a smile on the face of others and knew how to steal the show with a good joke. He was a loving father and grandfather.

A memorial in his honor will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 1pm at the VFW located at 996 N. Pondella Rd, N Fort Myers, Florida 33903. A graveside celebration will be held on May 3rd, 2024, at 1:30pm at Sarasota National Cemetery

Gene’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to his dear friends that worked so hard to care for and assist him as he fought hard in his battle with cancer.
