Obituary

George “Chief Mac” McEarchern is now in the presence of his Lord for eternity. He passed away peacefully at his home on March 29, 2017.  Chief Mac was born November 9, 1931 to John and Carrie McEarchern.

His real passion in life came in 1955 when he joined the Ocala Fire Department. He worked his way up and retired as a Battalion Chief in 1988. George also owned and operated Mark Candy Company until the late 70’s. He always loved fishing, so he became a commercial grouper fisherman until 2010. He was truly a man of integrity. He was well loved by his family, friends, the Fire Department and especially his C-shift.

Chief Mac is survived by his loving wife Shirley of 66 years; daughter Deborah (Joe) Brennan; son Theron Mark McEarchern. Grandchildren Matthew Lewis, Josh Corbin, Jaron Nettles and 1 great grandchild Makenna Corbin.

He leaves behind one brother John Theron McEarchern Jr. He is preceded in death by his mother Carrie; father J T “Slim” McEarchern; brother Robert; son George McEarchern Jr and a daughter Carol Ann. A gathering of friends and family will be held on a later date.
