Obituary
George Frederick Heer Silbermann
George was born August 21, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA and died November 25, 2017 in Ormond Beach, FL. He was the son of German immigrants Emil Silbermann and Frances Heer Silbermann.
George married Agnes Onuschak in 1955. They had a long and happy marriage, living in several different cities and states along the east coast of the USA, and eventually retiring in Viera, FL. Agnes passed in 2010.
After graduating from Cooper-Union and serving in the military, he went on to earn a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. He spent the early part of his career in the electronics industry working for defense contractors like Honeywell and TRW. George later worked for the Department of Defense in Maryland holding a Top Secret security clearance. He was a retired Captain in the US Air Force. George was very active in the Lutheran Church and enjoyed going on cruises with Agnes during their senior years.
George is survived by his sister, Louise Casertano, in Kyle, TX, and brother, Frank Silbermann, and his wife, Anne, in Green River, WY. He is also survived by three children and four grandchildren: George Silbermann Jr. and his wife, Kathleen, in Ormond Beach, FL and their two sons, Eric & Brian; Joanne Sheridan and her husband, William, in Germantown, MD; and Paul Silbermann and his wife, Karen, in Indian Head, MD and their daughters, Nicole & Malory.
The family will hold a private graveside ceremony at Veterans National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on Thursday, November 30, 2017. Arrangements are through Baldwin Brothers in Ormond Beach, FL; 386-947-7273; cstanley@baldwincremation.com.
