Obituary

Ms. Georgina Gabriela DeJesus Herrera y Herrera, 60, a resident of Lehigh Acres, passed peacefully into Eternal Life the afternoon of Monday, January 30, 2023 in the comfort of her residence, with her beloved family by her side.
Born on Saturday, April 7, 1962 in Merida, Mexico, she was one of three children and the only daughter of Maria (Ramos) Herrera and Mario Herrera, both of Merida, Mexico. She was educated in the Meridian schools prior to her relocation to the United States in February of 1999.
Until illness caused her early retirement, Georgina was employed as a licensed social worker with the Florida Department of Children and Family Services in Fort Myers for several years.
Devoted to her Catholic faith, Georgina was a member of Saint Raphael Roman Catholic Church, Lehigh Acres, where she previously sang in the parish choir. In her spare time, she was happy sharing her talents in sewing by making her children’s costumes for their school plays while living in Merida. She also enjoyed listening to music and going to the beach; but she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
A consummate mother figure, she always reminded her children to wash their hands! Above all else, Georgina will best be remembered for her loving caring ways; not only to her children and family, but to those she came in contact with. Her physical presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her in this life.
She was most recently preceded in death by her maternal grandmother.
Left to cherish the wonderful memories they hold of their mother are her children, Georgina Amador and her husband Onel of Lehigh Acres; Maria Cardena of Naples; Oscar Cardena and his wife Tanja of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Cherished grandchildren, including Anel Amador, Camila Amador, Vincent Goetz, Cristiano Cardena and Thiago Cardena. Brothers, Jose Herrera and Edwin Herrera, both of Merida, Mexico; Several nieces, nephews, fellow parishioners and dear friends.
Funeral services for Georgina will be conducted on Saturday, February 11th with her memorial funeral Mass at 12 noon in Saint Raphael Roman Catholic Church, 2514 Lee Boulevard, Lehigh Acres, Florida 33971. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to join Georgina’s family for visitation and shared remembrances Saturday directly at church from 11:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
