Obituary

Geraldine “Mary” Roberts, 75, of Edgewater, FL, passed away peacefully at home on Sept 2, 2020 after a two-year battle with cancer. Mary was born Oct 30, 1944 in Daytona Beach, the daughter of the late Franklin W. and Goldie Kleinschmidt Roberts. She graduated from Mainland High School in 1963 and worked as a hairdresser in the Daytona area for more than 35 years, moving to Edgewater in late 80’s.

Mary loved living in Volusia County and never met a stranger.  Her favorite past times were spent talking on the phone, reading the newspaper, watching sports games and any news channel, eating her favorite foods, playing with her former dog Beau and spending time with friends and family.  She was a proud member of the Women’s Democratic Association, enjoyed working the election polls and loved to discuss politics.  She was known by her family and friends as Aunt Minnie, Aunt Bunny, and Crazy Aunt Mary, but never by Geraldine.

Mary is predeceased by her sister in law, Ellen M. Roberts.  She is survived by her brother Frank W. Roberts Jr., of Williston; nephews and nieces Frank C (Carmy) Roberts of Oak Hill; Mary Ellen Roberts (Alan) Paulk of Williston; Doug A. Roberts of Glenwood; many great nieces and nephews Shannon Roberts of Edgewater; Nikki Kelton of Williston; Kelly (Rocco) Vaglica of Oak Hill; Austin (Alaina) Chewning of Palm Coast; Jamie Roberts of Glenwood and 5 great-great nieces and nephew Abigail, Hanna, Eli, Maggie, Bailey .

  1. Mary Ellen Paulk-Roberts says:

My Dear Aunt Mary, was a special and unique person, she had the ability to pinch your last nerve and make you crazy, but yet you still loved her unconditionally! She loved a good argument, loved to pull your chain, and was highly opinionated! However, she loved her family, and was a very big part of our family, and in spite of her difference in opinions, which were always different from everyone else's, she made our lives interesting and really full of laughter, it's going to be hard to image our lives without her. I was very close to my Aunt Mary when I was younger, Grandma and her lived just down the street from us, and being my dad's sister, we spent a lot of time together. she took me to the beach a lot and we would go to Steak and Shake Drive-in and hang out for hours, she was really into the Police Dispatch thing, she knew all the police codes and calls, he gave her a police radio, so she always knew what would be going on around Daytona 24-7. There are tons of stories and memories that I have of my Aunt growing up and even as an adult. Those memories will live on in my heart and soul, I will be able to share and reminisce all the crazy fun times with my dad, brothers and family which will keep her close to all of us for the rest of my life. Mary will surly be missed. Much Love from your Niece, Mary Ellen Paulk (Roberts)
