Obituary

Hassan “Eddie” Edward Carroll, age 53 of Orlando, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020.  He was born August 23, 1967 in Los Angeles, California, the son of the (pre-deceased) Robert Edward “Akeke” Carroll and Vicki Carroll (Living), and husband to Amanda Smith Carroll.  He enjoyed a successful career in investment and corporate sales before relocating to Florida in 2006, where he started a new career as a Hair Stylist. He was drawn to people and had a unique ability to connect with others. Eddie was an active member at Calvary Orlando Church and often volunteered to serve breakfast to the needy before Sunday service.  He was known and respected in the community for his work mentoring youth, coaching Little League baseball, and sharing the gospel.  Eddie made a point to never meet a stranger. He had a huge heart and always thought of others and the adversity they were facing. He had an infectious laugh, a smile that could light up a room, and he never failed to remind his friends to stop being so serious. In his youth, he was an avid athlete.  He enjoyed playing football, AYSO soccer, rugby, and baseball; his biggest passion.  Eddie attended Blair High School in Pasadena, CA. where he was a Sports Editor of the High School paper. He attended Stanford University and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. As a young adult, he even found time to learn how to play the bass guitar and was part of a rock band. To some, Eddie’s nickname was “Chopper” and to others “PosEnergy”. Eddie is survived by  his Loving Wife Amanda Smith Carroll, Mother; Vicki Carroll, Brother; Turhan Omar Carroll, Nieces; Larissa Victoria Carroll, Jacqueline Alexandra Carroll, Genesis Sukhui Carroll, Aunt; Lauren Kemp Few, Uncle; Marcus Carroll, Great Uncle; Gary Scott, Mother in Law; Linda Phillips, Brother in Law; Marc Lewis, Sister in Law; Sandy Lewis, and Niece; Gigi Lewis. Eddie is also predeceased by his  Father in Law; Joseph Steve Smith, and Grandparents, Anne and Walter Carroll Sr. and Uncle; Walter Carroll Jr.  The family will receive friends at Calvary Orlando located at 1199 Clay Street, Winter Park, FL 32789 in the Chapel on Saturday, September 5th from 10am – 12pm, with the service starting at 12pm. Dear Vicki and Amanda, I am so very sorry for your loss. I met Hassan in our freshman dorm at college and will always remember him as being an extremely kind, interested and genuine young adult when the rest of us were unsure and awkward. His light will be missed. With heartfelt condolences,

I will always remember the 13 year old kid that showed up to our first baseball game and played short stop with me at 3rd while Danny Hornbuckle pitched. One of the best teams we played on and as a young kid, you led us off. I always marveled at what a great, mature athlete you were. I cherish those days we had together on the ball field. Rest easy, my friend.
