In Loving Memory of Herbert Lee Halladay

1925 – 2021

Herbert L. Halladay was a kind and loving Christian man who passed away at 96 years of age on November 27, 2021, in Maitland Florida.

Herbert (Herb) was born in Meriden Connecticut on July 2, 1925, to Lee G. and Natalie E. Halladay. Herb joined the Navy and served as a radioman on an aircraft carrier during World War II. He also joined the reserves after World War Il and was called up for the Korean War. After his service in the Navy Herb joined the Postal Service and served as a letter carrier for over 30 years until his retirement. Herb also worked with the Letter Carrier Union to help other Letter Carriers throughout Central Florida with their health insurance needs.

Herb was very active at Delaney Street Baptist Church. He became a deacon and helped widows and others when they were in need. Herb also helped serve Boone High School football players their meals before games even when he was in his 80’s.

Herb enjoyed time with his family. He loved to fish and swim at Lake Crescent in Windermere where he had a cottage for a number of years. Herb loved his wife Carol, and they recently celebrated their 71^st wedding anniversary.

He is survived by his loving wife Carol, his two children, Glenn and Lloyd Halladay; 5 grandchildren, Susan Hernandez, David Halladay, John Halladay, Daniel Halladay, Mary Mathenia; and 10 great grandchildren.

Herb is also survived by his sisters Katherine Foy and Edith Singleton and brother Giles (Butch) Halladay. He is preceded in death by brothers Homer and Howard Halladay and his sister Gertrude Halladay.

The legacy that Herb has left behind is a strong one of love, kindness, and devotion. He will be missed but his family rejoices that he is free of pain and rejoicing in heaven.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 4 at 1:00pm at Delaney Church, 1919 Delaney Ave. Orlando FL 32806. Viewing will be available at 12:30. There will be a gravesite ceremony at Palm Cemetery, 1005 N. New York Ave Winter Park 32789 at approximately 2:30pm.
