Obituary

Hildegard Fritsch, 88, of Oxford, Florida, passed from this life to her eternal home on March 6 after a long battle with cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, she met husband Bob in Wiesbaden, where he worked for the US military. They moved to Indiana in 1957 and raised 4 children in Ft. Wayne. Her love of and compassion for people led to a position as Lay Assistant at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Her passion for ministry included visitation to hospitals and shut-ins, women’s prison ministry, leading death & dying workshops and grief counseling. Her work continued at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Atlanta, Georgia, from where she retired. She loved music and sang in choirs all her life. In lieu of flowers, she requested donations to the Music Department at Hope Lutheran Church, 250 Avenida Los Angelos, The Villages, FL 32162. A memorial service is planned at Hope Lutheran on March 25 at 10:30am.

Visiting Emmanuel's website, I noticed that there was a memorial in your mother's name. My prayers are with you and your families during this difficult time. Knowing that she is with the Lord is our consolation. I know my mom and dad always appreciated the friendship and caring that they had with your mom and dad during the many years together at Emmanuel. I also appreciated our friendship, Mike, during the years that we were growing up during grade school and high school. Not many of us remained faithful to the youth group, but those of us who did were a wonderful bunch, weren't we? Praying that God's loving hands hold you close to Him.

    The Fritsch family:
I saw in Emmanuel's newsletter that there was a memorial in your mother's name. So sorry to hear of her passing. Our parents were always so happy to have her come by and visit when they were at Lutheran Village. They always appreciated her kindness and friendship. I, also, appreciated the friendship that I had with you, Mike, when we were going through grade school and high school. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. She will live on as an inspiration for many!
