Irina Michael Antipin Shann, 86, of Palm Coast, Florida, was called home to be with Jesus on Sunday, January 10, 2021. Irina was born on November 25, 1934 in Tehran, Iran to Michael and Alexandra Antipin. After she emigrated to the U.S. in the mid 50’s, she met and married Lee S. Shann.
Irina traveled with her husband Lee to Cheyenne, Wyoming after he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. She had her first of two children, Antonina, while living there. The young family traveled back east to Montclair, New Jersey where she had her second child, Edward.
Throughout her life, Irina held multiple positions besides being a loving wife and mother. Her first position was in the Bridal Salon at the flagship store Macy’s in Newark, New Jersey. In time, she worked as a retail associate in the salon at Bamberger’s in Rockaway, New Jersey, a bank teller at numerous banks, and a photo lab technician in Palm Coast, Florida.
Irina was an active member of the New Jersey Club in Palm Coast. She was very proud of her Russian heritage and loved her church and her faith. She was a member for 25+ years at the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Randolph, New Jersey, and later, a member for 25+ years at St. John’s Russian Orthodox Church in Jacksonville, Florida.
Irina was predeceased by her loving husband, Lee, her parents, Michael and Alexandra, her brother, Yuri, and her grandchildren, Miranda (infant) and Michael (23).
Irina is survived by her children, Antonina and Edward, her grandchildren, Christopher, Natalie, Andrew, Edward Jr., and Nicholas, and her great-grandchildren, Brandon, Nathan, and twins, Easton and Preston, along with several nephews, grand nephews and nieces.
Services for Irina will be held at St. John’s Russian Orthodox Church, 1895 Corporate Square Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida, 32216, at 1:00 pm, Monday, January 18, 2021. Interment will follow at St. Justin the Martyr Orthodox Church Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.
