Obituary

James (Jim) Charles Ferguson (Fergy), 69, originally from Stanhope, NJ and recently from Paisley, FL. Went home to the Lord on Monday, April 8th, 2019 surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with COPD. James was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 8th, 1949, to Charles and Anna Ferguson.

James served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1988 during the time he served in the Vietnam War. He rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He was awarded the medal for Meritorious Service and others for his service in Vietnam.

James held an A.S. degree in electrical engineering from Seminole Community College. As an electrical engineer, he worked for Stromberg Carlson, Siemens and Quantum Technology. Some of the equipment he worked on was used in colleges, hospitals, and the space program.

James was a loving husband and father. His favorite holiday was Christmas during which he was known for setting up a large model train village. He enjoyed inviting family and friends to come enjoy it. His Christmas model train village was featured more than once in the local paper, “The Outpost”. Not only did he enjoy setting up the model train village, but he loved Christmas music. His favorite CD was from the Manheim Steamroller Christmas Collection which he listened to often. In addition to enjoying Christmas music, he loved to read and view science fiction and western books and movies.

James enjoyed helping others whether it be fixing or building something in the house for family or yard work for a neighbor. During the early 1990’s, he volunteered for Dreamflight from England to Disney. He was a member of the Paisley United Methodist Church where he worked in the sound room and was a trustee.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Ferguson; his sister, Carol Hart (Bill); sister, Joan Rouse (Harry); by his aunt, Yvonne Couteau (Earl); his brother-in-law, Robert Brantuas; his niece, Bonnie Rouse; and by his great-nephew, Tom Hart.

James is survived by his wife, Eileen Ferguson (Florida); his daughter, Christine Manwill and her husband, Henry (FL); by his daughter, Elicia Cronk, and her husband, Adam (FL); his grandson, Christopher Layton (FL); by his granddaughters, Emily and Caroline Cronk (FL); his brother, John Ferguson (New Jersey); his sisters, Yvonne Brantuas (New York) and Diane Miller and her husband, Terry (New Hampshire); by his aunt, Jeannie Treankle and her husband, Bill (California); his cousins: Tom Couteau (Maryland) and Greg and Sherry Couteau (Maryland); by his nieces and nephews: Eva Greenberg and her husband, Adam (New York); his niece Karol Morehead and her husband, Tony (Missouri); Diane Brantuas (NY); his nephew Kip Hart and his wife, Ruth (Pennsylvania); his nephew, Kenny Hart (PA); nephews and nieces: Tim, Tom and Kimberley Miller(New Hampshire); by his cousin William Treankle and his wife, Patricia (California); as well as many extended family members and friends.

A Service for James will be held at the Paisley United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 4th, 2019 at 2pm with light refreshments to follow. Internment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
