Obituary
With heavy hearts we share the passing of James (Jim) Richard Krouse, C.P.A., of Ventnor, NJ. Jim died peacefully on December 7, 2022 in Bonita Springs, FL surrounded by his loving wife and his adoring children.
Jim was born and raised in Atlantic City to Mary and Walter Krouse Sr. on October 9, 1935. He attended Atlantic City High School (‘53) and graduated Sum Laude (‘57) from Temple University with a B.S. in Business and Accounting. He married Marguerite (Peggy) Powers in August of 1960. He was a seasoned Certified Public Accountant, launching his long career at Peat Marwick Mitchell in Philadelphia and moving onto local accounting firm Bradway, Capaldi, & Schelick of Atlantic City. Jim later brought his skills to Ocean City Bank of NJ and eventually retired from the profession as Comptroller at Dee Lumber Company. Jim shared his accounting talents with several clients in the Ventnor area, preparing their annual personal taxes.
As a servant of the community, Jim was a long-time member of the Boy Scouts of America, and Term President for both the Ventnor Board of Education and Dollars for Scholars, as he was a deep believer in the power of education to elevate the lives of local youth. When Jim wasn’t mastering tax codes or championing education, he enjoyed skiing and traveling, and he spent countless hours fishing the Ventnor pier, tallying and cataloging his frequent catches and gaining legendary status for his prized striped bass haul. After decades relishing their life at the shore, Jim and Peggy retired to Bonita Springs, FL, where Jim was celebrated in his new community as a formidable player of Mexican Trains and ace of the local fishing creeks.
Jim leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Peggy Krouse, son and daughter-in-law James David Krouse and Dr. Anne Krouse, daughters and sons-in-law Maribeth and Bernard Richerme, Linda Powers and Roy Katz, and Ilda and Christian Jacobsen. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Melissa Krouse and Tim Tonkinson, Nicolas Richerme, Emily Richerme, Michael and Olivia Krouse, Thibaut Richerme, Freyja Jacobsen, and Delling Jacobsen, and great-grandson, Jackson Krouse along with countless friends and neighbors. He is also survived by his brother, Walter D. Krouse, Jr.
The immediate family will hold an intimate celebration of life luncheon for Jim near his Florida home. Friends and loved ones who wish to make a donation in his memory may consider a contribution to the kind staff and volunteers at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice at 27200 Imperial Parkway, Bonita Springs, FL 34135.
