Obituary

James John Marshall III, a gifted and beloved entrepreneur, athlete, and family member, died Dec. 20, just four days shy of his 39th birthday.

Marshall was a beloved son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin, and friend with an infectious smile and an easily recognizable laugh.

Known as “Jimmy” or “Little Jimmy” to friends and family — both his father and grandfather share the name “Jim” — Marshall grew up in Milltown, New Jersey, and graduated in 2001 from nearby Spotswood High School, where he was a star member of the golf team. He then studied at Monmouth University at the Jersey Shore.

Marshall later moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida with his family. There, he and his father founded Serenity Springs, a rehabilitation and recovery center that helped hundreds of people.

He had a wide array of talents and interests. He played piano at family functions, was an avid golfer and runner, and was also skilled at basketball. He was a terrific uncle to his two nephews and one niece. They adored him and were always excited to spend time with Uncle Jimmy.

Marshall was remarkably kind, always looking out for others. He approached life in calm, zen-like fashion. And he sported a sharp sense of humor — one that especially lit up whenever he, his father, and his friends and cousins visited comedy clubs in New York City.

He was also a beloved boyfriend to his girlfriend Gabby Campos. He loved to travel and recently enjoyed trips to Costa Rica.

Marshall is survived by his father James and mother Sharon Marshall, sister Tara Evans; nephews William “Kale” and Garrett and niece Brinley, grandfather Joseph Callahan, Uncle Joseph Callahan, aunts Linda Marshall and Patricia Johnson and cousins.

Services will be held at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home 1 North Causeway, New Smyrna Beach, Fl. 32169
Visitation on Wednesday from 6 – 8 PM
Service on Thursday at 10 AM

James will be laid to rest at Edgewater Cemetery following the service.
