Obituary

James “Jim” Robert Langston, also known as Bob Langston, 91, passed away August 27, 2019, at his home in Fort Myers, FL. Born January 5, 1928, in Atlanta, GA., he was the son of Don Newton Langston and Dixie Hyacinth Dodgen. Jim worked for the state of New Jersey as a corrections officer for 23 years prior to his retirement. He and his family moved to Fort Myers in 1974.

With his passing, he left behind his loving wife of 73 years Elizabeth Oxley Langston, two younger brothers, Tom and Ken, 10 kids, 21 grandkids, 24 great grandkids, two great-great grandkids, and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

There will be a funeral mass for Bob on Saturday, September 7th, 2019, at 10 am., at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, 5632 Sunrise Drive, Fort Myers, FL., 33919. There will be a celebratory gathering in the church hall afterwards. “We hope you can join our family in celebration of Dad’s life.”

In lieu of flowers, those interested may donate to Boys Town at https://secure.boystown.org/donate/MemorialGift.aspx in his name. Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society, Fort Myers, assisted with arrangements.

    My condolences to the entire Langston family. I know his presence will always be felt and comfort you all. One of the gifts he and his wife gave to his children was always felt by peripheral people like me- we felt like family whenever we were around the Langstons. His children, my friends, always made me feel at home. Bob (and Betty) were (are) great teachers.
