Obituary
On Sunday, July 19, 2020, James Linn Troxell (Debary, Fl), loving husband, dad, brother, son, uncle, and talented musician passed away.
Jim was born on May 24, 1959, in St. Joseph Missouri Jim’s talent as a musician was passed onto him by his father Jerry Troxell, Ph.D. and at an early age, Jim “Tooter” Troxell was entertaining family and all of Springfield IL. Upon moving to Florida in the late 80’s he quickly made a name in Central Florida & Fl East Coast music scene and was a favorite during Daytona Bike Week. He was a founding member and headliner in Lori Gill and the Notebenders. Jim’s one of kind talent can only be matched by his kindness and humor he shared with everyone he met. Entertaining and music was his life calling and soul nourishment, but he also excelled in his career with Augustine Builders, and Life Safety and Environment of Care Specialist at Blackberry Hospital and Orlando Health. Jim’s passion and commitment to his family included the four-legged members as he was an avid dog lover. Jim will be remembered for his music, his devotion to his wife and family, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Jim was preceded in death by his father Jerry Troxell, mother Donna Ruoff Troxell.
He is survived by his wife, Nora, his 3 step-children Michael Lastinger, Samantha Lastinger, Stevee-Lynn Kivi(Eric Kivi) grandchildren Hannah and Ryan Kivi, Autumn Winn, his sisters Jerilyn Troxell Gorden and Denise Troxell(Bruce Johnson), mother in law Carol Smith, father-in-law Sam Smith (Marilynn Smith) and his 6 brothers in law and 5 sisters in law and 20 nieces and nephews. Due to covid19, a celebration of life will be planned at an appropriate and safe time in the future. The family is asking to honor Jim’s love for music by donating to Volusia County Music Educators Association ( FB link to be provided) and Springfield High School Band Activity Account 101 South Lewis St., Springfield, IL 62704 James “Tooter” Troxell Class of 1977.
