Obituary

Retired Chief Petty Officer James Thomas Myers, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, passed away September 14th, 2022, at the age of 82 at home with family by his side.
The son of Alva and Lucille Myers. James was born in Centralia Kansas on Jan. 6, 1940.  He grew up in Centralia and Wichita Kansas.
At the age of 18, James enlisted in the United States Navy. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Master Chief. As part of this service, James served 3 tours in Vietnam and served on numerous Aircraft carriers around the globe. After spending 30 years in the Navy he retired and began his second career at Boeing aircraft in Wichita, KS Where he played a critical role in the building of Air Force One.  After 10 years at Boing he retired again only to buy a farm in Frankfort, Ks and become a Farmer. After several years of farming Jim retired to Florida to live out his days chasing fish instead of cows. Jim was also member of Sacred Heart Catholic church in New Smyrna Beach, FL where he ushers and made waffles Sundays mornings for the congregation.
James was preceded in death by his mother and father, Alva and Lucille Gleason Myers, his sister, Kathy Myers, brother Alva Roger Myers and daughter Samantha Lynn Myers Barnett.
James is survived by this wife Wilma Myers, sisters Carolyn Myers, of Leon, Kansas, Charlene Myers of Imperial Beach, California and brother Michael Myers of Wichita.
Daughters Manda Myers Rust, Pamela (Michael) Reed, Larenda Myers, Nancy (Carlton) Dienstbach, sons Scott Cowan, Daniel (Sheri), Bruce (Connie) Tippins. Grandchildren Priscilla (Joshua) Miller, Amber (Brandon) Williams, Donovan Lambert, Christopher Reed, Lance Tippins, Carly and Taylor Dienstbach.
Great grandchildren, Joshua, Ezra and Asa Miller, Eden and Danika Lambert.
A service honoring the life of James Thomas Myers will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery 5525 US 1, Mims Florida 32754, on October 20th at 12:30 PM.
