Obituary
Janet Jallo, the beloved daughter of C.W. and Alma Smith, was born on Tuesday, September 24, 1946, in Harlem, New York.
Janet graduated from Central Commercial High School in New York City. Years later she graduated from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY. With over forty years of experience in the banking industry, Janet was most widely recognized as Vice President of Human Resources at JP Morgan Chase in New York, NY.
After retiring from banking, Janet achieved her dream of starting her own business, JJ’s Place in Brooklyn, NY. JJ’s Place was an expression of Janets’ personality as she loved to have family gatherings, listen to music and dance. JJ’s Place will always be remembered as a welcoming, comfortable location for families to gather and celebrate while enjoying an exceptional meal.
Although Janet was born and raised in New York City, she decided to relocate to Deltona, Florida. While in Florida, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as Grandma Booboo. She loved gardening, playing with her dog, Coco, and days at the beach. She also enjoyed long conversations with her lifelong friend of 64 years, Judith Battle, who unfortunately passed in 2023.
Janet was a kind, loving, opinionated and sometimes “bossy” woman. She was known for her intelligence, and ability to come up with a solution for any situation. In her later years, she had a lot of advice, and our family would like to share one of the quotes we found in her belongings:
“Tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye, but regrets can last a lifetime.”
Janet cared deeply for those close to her and she will forever be missed.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her loving children, Tracey, Eric (daughter-in-law Kavita), and Khadeja, her grandchildren, Christopher, Sydney, Sierra and Sienna, along with a host of cherished family and friends.
We wish to pass our Condolences and prayers during this difficult period.
Much love,
Kathleen Lukhman
