Obituary
Jerry Lewis Link, 91, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, formerly of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away May 15, 2023, surrounded by his family. Jerry was born, May 9, 1932, to the late Posey and Anna Lee Link of Crow, WV and was the last of the 9 siblings to pass away. Jerry graduated from SSHS in 1950. He married the love of his life, Jean Miller Link, on May 9,1953. They were married for 64 years. The couple raised their 3 children in Beckley before retiring to New Smyrna Beach Florida in 1986. Jerry served in the Army Signal Corps during the Korean War Conflict from 1952-1954 with the rank of Corporal. He worked for C & P Telephone Company as a Marketing Manager for 31 years before transferring to AT&T in Beckley and Roswell, VA where he retired. He enjoyed being a part of the Pioneers after retirement in Beckley and in Florida. He served as the communication liaison in the Bunker located at The Greenbrier Hotel. He worked as a consultant in Florida for AT&T for a few years before deciding to settle fully into retirement. He was an active member of the First NSB-A Family Church where he served as a deacon and prior to relocation, was an active member of the Maxwell Hill Baptist Church in Beckley, WV. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, his parents Posey and Anna Lee Link, two brothers, Paul Link (Lois) and Howard Link of Crow, WV, 6 sisters, Frances Scott (Howard) of Grandview, WV, Geneva Rupe (Victor)of Tampa, Fl , Legatha Furrow (Walter) of Waynesboro, Virginia, Martha Phelps (Ashford) of Ronda, WV, Maude Jordan (Kenneth) of Crow, WV , and Patricia Campbell (Ray)of Crow, WV. He leaves behind 3 children, Jerry Alan Link of Port Orange, FL, Pam Link Miles (Jay) of Charleston, WV, and Sherri Link Morgan of Daniels, WV. He had 7 grandchildren, Christopher Link (Kristie) of West Palm Beach, Fl, Jeremy Miles (Dolly) of Port Orange, Fl, Joshua Morgan (Ashleigh) of Houston, TX, Matthew Link of Denver, CO, Caitlin Morgan Palazzola (Jared) of Knoxville, TN, Jared Morgan (Stevie Marie) of Boardman, OH, and Jordan Morgan (Hannah) of Beckley, WV. He has 6 great grandchildren, Dylan and Haylea Link of Hillsville, VA, Kaya and Malia Miles of Port Orange, FL, Beckham Morgan of Houston, TX and Collins Palazzola of Knoxville, TN. His family also includes numerous nieces and nephews, son & daughter in law Kevin Morgan (Sherri)and Dianna Link Bailey (Alan), and a special caregiver, Robyn, who made him laugh during his last years.
The family wishes to thank Halifax Hospice of Edgewater, FL for their care during his final days and Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home/Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley for making final arrangements, and support. His friendly smile and infectious laugh will be greatly missed.
Celebration of life services will be held at First NSB of New Smyrna Beach on Sunday, May 21st, 2023, at 2:30 pm with Pastor Luke McKinney officiating.
Graveside rites will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV at a later date.
