Obituary

Joan Catherine Waite, 75, passed away on Sunday October 16th 2017 at Suncoast Hospice in Pinellas Park FL.

Joan was born February 6, 1942 in Maspeth, NY to her parents John and Marion Charczuk.  She obtained a Mathematics degree from Wagner College where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She later earned her Masters degree in Education from St. John’s University.

 

Joan married Rupert Waite on September 16th 1967.  Together they resided New Hyde Park on Long Island, NY. Joan worked as programmer for AT&T and then as an analyst for American Airlines until she left to raise a family.  Later, she became a math teacher until she retired in 2004.  After retirement, she and her husband Rupert moved to a retirement community, Royal Harbor, in Tavares, FL.

Joan was a talented math teacher who enjoyed the theater and traveling.  Joan was a sports fan and enjoyed watching her New York hometown teams, the New York Mets, Jets and Giants.

 

During her teaching days, she enjoyed vacationing in the Adirondacks hiking and fishing with her family.  Joan loved spending summer days with her nieces and nephews at the beach.

 

In her later years, Joan loved spending time with her family and her dog Bailey.
Joan is survived by her husband of 50 years, Rupert Waite and her children Allison Clark (Waite), Eric Waite and Robert Waite and their spouses, Sean Clark, JoAnna Waite and Patricia Waite. She was a loving grandmother to 4 grandchildren, Michael (16), Anna (14), Ainsley (10) and Ian (3).  She is also survived by her brother, John Charczuk and has many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.

 

A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, October 29, 2017, from 3 to 5  P.M. at Baldwin Brothers Heritage Place 1350 Burleigh Blvd. Tavares, Florida 32778.
