Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Scott Hendrickson announces her passing on Tuesday September 11th, 2018. She was 83 years old.
Joan Evelyn Scott was born on January 11th, 1935 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Joan married the love of her life, Frank Hendrickson, on December 10, 1955. The two love birds spent a year in Europe where Frank furthered his medical specialty. Upon their return, they settled in Oak Park, Illinois where they raised their family.
Joan enjoyed curling, reading and crossword and cryptogram puzzles. She enjoyed playing golf and was the first person in the family to achieve a hole-in-one. Joan was also an exceptional knitter; she loved making sweaters, blankets, scarves and Christmas stockings for her beloved children and grandchildren.
For over twenty years Joan and Frank have called Florida their home, living at Sugar Mill in New Smyrna Beach. It was at home where Joan died peacefully with family by her side. She remained steadfast in her caring commitment to friends and family and maintained her mischievous sense of humor to the end.
Joan will be lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 63 years, Frank, and their four children: David (Marla), Cheryl (John), Bruce (Sharon) and Brian (Peggy). She will also be greatly missed by her 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Jim.
At her request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Joan’s preferred charity of Halifax Health Hospice.
