Obituary

On Saturday, June 11, 2022, John Leslie Bowers Sr., loving husband to Sally Bowers, passed away at age 78.

 

John was born on July 28, 1943 in Newark, NJ to Evelyn and Eugene Bowers. He moved to Winter Springs, FL in 1973 and eventually to Apopka, FL where he and Sally Bowers settled to enjoy friends and family.

 

John served in The United States Navy.  He worked many years in the food brokerage business where you would often find him working in local grocery outlets throughout Florida. He started in the grocery business working for Arnold Bread Company and eventually moved on to the brokerage business where he worked for Acosta Sales and Marketing.  John had a passion for his family. He would play golf with his sons and loved hosting his grandkids at their home.  He knew the true secret to life is grandkids and he was a wonderful “Pop” to Ashley, Jordan, Ryan, Jessica, Lyndsay, Calyn, Leslie, Charlie, and two grandsons named William.  John had many friends and family throughout the Southeast where you would often find him traveling to see them.  He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.

 

John was preceded in death by his sister Faye and his brother Don.  He is survived by his wife Sally, her three children, Jennifer Hayes (Taber – Ashley and Jordan), Melissa Murphy (Jessica, Lyndsay, and Ryan), and Randy Murphy (Rebecca – Charlie and William) as well as his two children John L. Bowers Jr. (Autumn – Leslie) and Scott Bowers (Rosemary – William).

 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 2:30 PM at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
