John Roger Correia, 91, of Ocala, FL passed from this life into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on January 8, 2019. He will be missed by all who knew him. We rejoice with him as he receives his eternal reward.
A celebration of his life will take place on February 2, 2019 at 2pm at Christ’s Church of Marion County 6768 SW 80th Street Ocala, FL 34476.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island John moved to Portugal at the age of 9 with his family. At 18, he returned to the United States, and settled in Miami, where he relearned the English language while working in a movie theater. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a proud U.S. citizen.
He enjoyed a long successful business career, working in sales and management for Dun and Bradstreet and the Better Business Bureau of Miami. In his later years, he worked for The Home Depot, where he developed an interest in woodworking, which became a passionate hobby in his retirement years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia and his daughters Dottie Mercier (Rick) and Allison Bennett (Bill), 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Alice Jones (Gordon), and numerous nieces, nephews, and many other extended family members.
Faith, Family, and Friendship were the most important aspects of his life, and those relationships sustained him during his long fruitful life. While we will miss him, we rejoice that he is now happy, healthy, and with his beloved Savior.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to either Kindred Hospice 1320 SE 25th Loop Suite 101, Ocala, FL 34471, or Christ’s Church of Marion County (address listed above).
