John William Wheat, 72, of Cape Coral, passed away June 04, 2021, at Hope Hospice House, in Cape Coral, FL. Born March 05, 1949 in Toledo, OH, he was the son of Ernest Leroy Wheat and Nelva Irene Price.

John was a member of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. A Mister Fix It and electronics buff, he spent his career mainly as a Maintenance Supervisor within the resort industry.  John and Lee fell in love with Biddeford, Maine and began spending their summers there every year.

Predeceased by his parents, brother Bob Wheat and grandson Mark Bates, John is survived by his loving wife, Lee Wheat of Cape Coral, FL., and by his step children: Jay L. Bates, Robin Sloan and her husband, Dave; Scott Bates, Gary Bates and his wife, Susan.

John was blessed with Grandchildren: Jay A. Bates, Jessica Bates, Jamie Thomas and her husband, Marvin, Scott Bates, Christopher Bates, Justin Mosher, Kelsea Bates and eight great grandchildren, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
